How to Remove Unwanted Hairs From the Head

While you can also use depilatory products on your head, wouldn't it be more comfortable to just use trimmers, clippers or specialized head shavers for the purpose of removing unwanted hairs?

Head shavers

What does a head shaver look like? Head shavers like the HeadBlade look uncannily like small vacuum cleaners. The handles are rounded and protrude at an angle from a central hard plastic body. The shape of the body is bent at an angle also, no doubt to accommodate better the shape of the head and the arm of the one using the device.

The head part of the device features a movable, jointed blade system that moves depending on the shape of the head. Come to think of it, a head shaver looks like a hybrid of a movable-head type disposable razor and a car vacuum. Anyway, the size of the a head shaver is larger than an ordinary electric shaver, and it doesn't use rotating metal discs.

Be creative & safe

There is no one way of shaving the head. Your aesthetic sense and personal style would be dictating the final outcome of your head shave. Your skill and dexterity in handling the equipment would also play a part. Here's the first thing that you can do to ensure a good shave. Instead of lubricating the machine with machine oil, why not use something more skin-friendly, like olive oil?

The point of this move is simple: there's a chance that drops of oil would make contact with your scalp. Machine oil is not good for the scalp or hair, but olive oil is. The olive oil would still provide sufficient lubrication for the device. In addition, the olive oil can help heal wounds if you knick yourself during shaving.

Being picky with razors

Here's the only reason why small, disposable razors are not fun to use during head shaving: they wear out really fast. When the blades wear out, the edges become dull. Dull metal causes cuts and bleeding points in the skin. You don't have to throw away your disposable razor, though. Here's what you can do: use both.

The electric razor can trim the thickest hairs first without causing damage to itself. The final, closest shave can be achieved with a plain disposable razor because you can lean forward the mirror and slowly shave the fine hairs to the desired length. If you want really short hair, use the electric head shaver as close as possible to scalp. This would ensure that you save time and your hand razor would have an easier time of it, later.

Moisture is also a key component during the trimming and shaving. We all know that soft, moist skin and hairs are easier to cut when wet than when dry. You can do this in a variety of ways, but since we're dealing with the head (and we're assuming that you have a lot of hair there), you can simply shampoo first or at least wet your hair before you begin the procedure. Making the scalp and hair moist would also reduce the incidence of razor burns.
